Glee’s Amber Riley Joins cast of Cotton Club Parade
Beginning November 15, the Cotton Club Parade will return to New York City. Coming with it will be “Glee” star Amber Riley. She will join original cast members Brandon Victor Dixon, Jared Grimes and Adriane Lenox along with Alexandria Bradley, Andrew Carter, Kyra Da Costa, Carmen Ruby Floyd, La Tanya Hall, Jeremiah “Supaman” Haynes, Christopher Jackson, Monroe Kent III, Karine Plantadit, T. Oliver Reid and Britton Smith. Currently, Cotton Club Parade is scheduled to run from November 14-18 at the New York City Center.
Cotton Club Parade tells the story of the Harlem night club that featured big band swing and blues, dancers, singers, comedians and novelty acts throughout the 1920s and 1930s. Duke Ellington and his band called the club home for four straight years beginning in 1927 and made frequent guest appearances into the 1930s. Taking this into account, the musicians for the stage production will feature the Jazz at Lincoln Center All Stars under the direction of Daryl Waters.
