Bianca Marroquin and Brian O’Brien Join Cast of Chicago
Beginning tonight, Bianca Marroquin and Brian O’Brien will join the cast of the long time running musical Chicago. Respectively, they will take on the roles of Roxie Hart and Billy Flynn. The current cast of Chicago includes Amra-Faye Wrightas Velma Kelly, Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart and Carol Woodsas Matron “Mama” Morton.
Marroquinn made her Broadway debut in Chicago in 2003 after portraying Roxie Hart in the Spanlish-language Mexico City production of the hit musical. She has also appeared in In the Heights, And the World Goes Round, Beauty and the Beast, Rent, The Vagina Monologues and The Phantom of the Opera. O’Brien has also been a previous cast member the Broadway production of Chicago, and has appeared in The Visit, Steel Pier, Annie Get Your Gun, The Pirate Queen and Promises, Promises. He previously performed the role of Billy Flynn on Broadway and in the national tour of Chicago.
The revival of Chicago opened on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in November 1996 where it remained through February 1997. The musical transferred to the Shubert Theatre on Feb. 11, 1997, and played through Jan. 26, 2003. The revival reopened at the Ambassador Theatre, its current home, on Jan. 29, 2003. Chicago won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical in 1997, as well as awards for actors Bebe Neuwirthand James Naughton, director Walter Bobbie, lighting designer Ken Billingtonand choreographer Ann Reinking. The original production was directed and choreographed by the late Bob Fosse.
